Saint-Tropez, the jewel of the French Riviera

The citadel of Saint-Tropez

This old fort from the Vauban era dating from the beginning of the 17th century is steeped in history. Pampelonne, an unmissable place

It’s impossible not to stop at Pampelonne when visiting Saint-Tropez. Located on the Saint-Tropez peninsula, this place gave its name to the five-kilometer long sandy beach located in the commune of Ramatuelle, in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. This unmissable landscape in the South of France arouses much desire, both from tourists and film directors: you can see Brigitte Bardot there, in the now famous film “And God…Created Woman!”.

 

The splendid Château de la Moutte

Located on the Saint-Tropez peninsula, this magnificent castle once belonged to Emile Olivier – head of government of the Second Empire – who bought it from the Martin de Roquebrune family, local notables. He then decided to enlarge it to make it the monument it is today. Today extending to the sea, it has a beautiful botanical park in which it is possible to walk during the summer season.  During the “Nuits du Château de la Moutte“, a recognized cultural festival of music and dance, it is possible to visit it in the company of a guide.

 

The astonishing Annonciade museum

This art museum is located in the chapel Notre-Dame de l ‘Annonciade, built in the 16th century. The museum has the particularity of housing the entire collection of works of art by the artist Georges Grammont, including paintings by several renowned painters such as Paul Signac, Braque and Matisse. Saint-Tropez will have inspired more than one, and maybe you too!
